Chelsea announced on Tuesday extended the contract of captain and star center of the German Michael Ballack to run until June 2010.
Turning Ballack (32 years) to the ranks of Chelsea in May 2006 from Bayern Munich and culminating with the team that won the FA Cup and Carling Championship.
The German player told the official site for Chelsea, "I am very happy to stay an additional year in the ranks of Chelsea, where I hope to stay here at least until the 2010 World Cup."
He sat out his desire to start a new phase with Chelsea, which will be led by the Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti, the beginning of July next, as a successor to coach Guus Hiddink.
